afghanistan

Afghanistan has always held a central position on the grand chessboard of the middle east, and this is doubly true today – control of oil distribution (the puppet Karzai is a former UNOCAL executive), CIA drug income, and proximity to Iran all motivate the continued occupation of the nation that stymied Alexander and the British Empire. Back home, domestic media need only brandish the spectre of terrorism, Osama bin Laden, the Taliban (eg; loosely knit Afghan resistance) and just like magic, civilian drone strikes and torture are justified in the name of the ‘war on terror’. Meanwhile, the Afghan people suffer the charade of development and liberation.
