Introduction

Perhaps you heard. From June 26-27 the G20 occupied Toronto’s downtown core, disrupting business, traffic, and generally made an expensive nuisance of itself. You may have heard about the protests. And that the protesters didn’t like capitalism.

The only problem with that, is that the G20 is not capitalism. It’s not even like capitalism. And many of the protesters, while well intentioned, weren’t looking to contest the legitimacy of this global council that elected itself el supremo last year – they simply wanted their items on the agenda.*

That’s unlikely to happen. The G20 is a council of central bankers, politicians, and bureaucratic mandarins – comprising an elite economic micromanagement Soviet that might have made Marx blush.

And you can be assured that, while enjoying drinks on the house at a party Canadians aren’t invited to, the Davos Men of international finance were hard at work figuring out new and exciting ways to exert control over regional and national banks, how to create new revenue streams for international institutions, and how to roll you and yours into a global economic command and control hierarchy on the pretext that this will save us from the sort of economic collapse that big government generated in the first place. That’s a hangover we’ll have to contend with.

The good news is, the globalists hit some stumbling blocks and even before the choppers started landing it seemed clear that basically nothing was going to get done in Toronto – the heavy lifting has been pushed off to the Seoul conference. And indeed, thankfully, very little actually got done. Not bad for $1.2 billion, eh?

Say no to the global bankster occupation. Say no to the G20 global summits. Got something to say about it? Visit the StatismWatch forum.

*(Update 2010/06/21: Retracted, at least in the case of the umbrella group the Toronto Community Mobilization Network. As of today, they’ve put out a press release on Facebook including a call “for the G8/B20/G20 to be abolished for causing global poverty and displacement.” Which is true as far as it goes, though it could go a lot further to address the root cause.)
