Yes – and it's quite laughable that now the CPAC poll – long lauded by the mainstream media and US neocons as the end-all and be-all of polls to sniff out potential Republican presidential candidates – has been won two years running by a libertarian, it's dropped off media radar completely other than to dismiss or minimize or (as you rightly point out) deliberately misrepresent what went down.
What's that, FAUX News? It was just a mistake? Ooops. Yeah, we'll add that to the list of 'mistakes' FAUX News has made when the truth becomes inconvenient.
I noted that the Guardian had favourable coverage. I almost fell off my chair as well when the Guardian pointed out that Libertarians lie outside the distorting right/left political lens, and even provided a link to the quiz that provides a tool for introspection on where you, the reader, may lie on a modified multidimensional dimensional political spectrum.
It's really high time that all activists that lie 'to the north' of the left and right on the far more objective liberty/authoritarianism axis reject the tainted labels conservative and liberal – they're well past their due date and have become fuzzy and meaningless. Most 'conservatives' these days are outright statists or worse.
