G20 protesters say they won’t be intimidated by police

This is about the extent of the coverage of what the (left/labour identified) protesters have to say in the media, an atrociously unbalanced showing by the press. While this journal has issues with probably about half of what they have to say on philosophical grounds* they should be given a hearing in the media at least. You can read their views here on the Toronto Community Mobilization website.

*(What the G20 is doing could hardly be described as ‘capitalism’ – it’s centralized Keynesian micromanagement, a power grab, the diametric opposite of free markets. The councils of world leaders are more akin to ComIntern, the Third International’s dream of global command and control communism – central banks and all – than anything that could be described as capitalist. The language we use to communicate ideas has become twisted beyond recognition, just as Orwell predicted.)

Toronto Community Mobilization Network says police are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on fences and equipment to control and bring pain to protesters

Groups planning to protest during this month’s G20 summit in Toronto say they will not be intimidated by police tactics.

The Toronto Community Mobilization Network says police are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on fences and equipment to control and bring pain to protesters.

Security personnel are erecting a link fence around several blocks of downtown Toronto surrounding the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where the summit will take place.

Equipment that officers will have at their disposal include so-called sonic cannons, capable of emitting piercing sounds at painful levels.

The group claims police have been targeting community organizers, following them and visiting their workplaces, meetings and homes.

An area has been set aside at Queen’s Park, where the Ontario legislature is located, for peaceful demonstrations.
