Obama to control your television; brainwashing will be “organically” woven into plots and storylines all next week

An insidious brainwashing program set to be launched next week will “organically” weave the government’s political propaganda into prime time network television shows, with positive talking points about Obama’s environmental, bailout, health care and “servitude” agenda being seamlessly integrated into the content of dramas, reality shows and comedies.

Under the auspices of a program run by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), network TV shows will be used to promote “service and volunteerism” on behalf of the public as part of a “week-long of television programming on all four leading broadcast networks — ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and all affiliated broadcast and cable properties as well, and other networks, beginning October 19.”

ASHBURN, Va. (WUSA) — Many of you have been lining up to get the seasonal flu shot. But there is one Ashburn woman who wants you to hear her story before you do.

Desiree Jennings is trapped in her body. Intellectually she’s all there, but her muscles are fighting each other. She’s been diagnosed with dystonia, an extremely rare and debilitating neurological disease.

She says after taking the seasonal flu shot she witnessed her body’s rapid decline. She doesn’t know what else it could be but she has serious questions about the seasonal flu shot. The Centers for Disease Control cannot comment on her case.

Senate passes measure prompted by case of woman prevented from suing over alleged rape by Halliburton/KBR colleagues

US defence firms are to be barred from lucrative government contracts if they refuse to allow employees access to the courts, after a woman working for a Halliburton subsidiary in Iraq was prevented from taking legal action over an alleged gang rape by fellow workers.

Al Franken, the Senate’s newest member, has won an amendment to the defence appropriations bill prompted by the case of Jamie Leigh Jones. She alleges that she was drugged and raped by seven American contractors in Baghdad in 2005.

Jones, who was employed by KBR, which was fighting oil fires, says that a pattern of subsequent behaviour by the firm, including allegedly locking her in a container under armed guard and losing forensic evidence, amounts to a cover-up.

This would be the ‘looting’ referred to in Atlas Shrugged. There’s a great interview posted today on Democracy Now that illustrates how this is all based on fraud. You could also look into Goldman Sach’s history of creating and collapsing bubbles throughout the 20th century through leveraging for their own profit. Back in the day, people used to know that centralizing banking power was dangerous – hence all those ‘Monopoly’ guy type caricatures in 19th century political cartoons. There’ve been multiple instances in the US where the connections between banks and the state had to be broken – this constitutes one of the major threads of American history that most people these days are unaware of. Firm’s employees could get average sum of £430,000, payouts come one year after bank took bailout cash

Goldman Sachs is gearing up to pay its biggest ever bonuses to its 31,700 employees after raking in profits at a rate of $35m (£21.5m) a day, in the clearest signal yet that the Square Mile and Wall Street are returning to their old ways of money-making prosperity.

Just weeks after the leaders of the G20 countries called for restraint in financial industry pay to avert “unacceptable risk-taking,” Goldman’s astute trading on resurgent financial markets yielded an almost 300% rise in quarterly profits to $3.19bn.

The UN Human Rights Council has ended a first day of debate on whether to endorse a report into the Israeli offensive in Gaza last winter.

The report by veteran South African judge Richard Goldstone accuses both Israel and Hamas of war crimes.

Human rights groups have welcomed his report as serious and well-balanced, but Israel and the US say it is biased.

A vote is expected on Friday on a draft resolution about the report and Israel’s policies.

That’s been a fairly common practice in the past in Iraq. But, naturally, Italy and NATO are denying it. As though anyone is going to believe anything that comes out of Berlusconi’s mouth. The strident denials seem a little late in coming, however, given that it’s public knowledge that the UK and US have both been considering this strategy. It even has a cute name: ‘Bribe the Tribes‘. When ten French soldiers were killed last year in an ambush by Afghan insurgents in what had seemed a relatively peaceful area, the French public were horrified.

Their revulsion increased with the news that many of the dead soldiers had been mutilated – and with the publication of photographs showing the militants triumphantly sporting their victims’ flak jackets and weapons. The French had been in charge of the Sarobi area, east of Kabul, for only a month, taking over from the Italians; it was one of the biggest single losses of life by Nato forces in Afghanistan.

What the grieving nation did not know was that in the months before the French soldiers arrived in mid-2008, the Italian secret service had been paying tens of thousands of dollars to Taleban commanders and local warlords to keep the area quiet, The Times has learnt. The clandestine payments, whose existence was hidden from the incoming French forces, were disclosed by Western military officials.

It’s difficult to know at this remove precisely why civil war is being fomented in Pakistan, but it’s tragic – thousands more are fleeing South Waziristan as the clouds of war gather, VOA reports. The situation is complex – there are factions within the army, supported by elements of the ISI, that are attacking other elements of the army. It’s come out in the media that the Islamic groups are aided and abetted by elements of the Pakistan armed forces. Additionally, there have been accusations that Indian and American agencies are also supporting the ‘Taliban’. One previous insurgent leader, Qari Zainuddin, went public with this information and was promptly assassinated. Baitullah Mehsud, previously untouchable for some reason, was also eliminated by Predator strike shortly thereafter and replaced by his brother. What are we to make of all this? There’s more going on behind the scenes than we know. Qui bono?

Five co-ordinated attacks killed at least 40 people in three Pakistani cities Thursday as violence escalated ahead of a planned offensive into the militant heartland on the Afghan border.

Officials said the violence began just after 9 a.m. with groups of gunmen attacking three sites in the eastern city of Lahore. Later in the day car bombs detonated in the cities of Kohat and Peshawar.

Gunmen initially launched a 1½ hour attack at the Federal Investigation Agency. Two attackers died in the standoff that also killed four government employees and a bystander, said government officials.

Gov. Gen Michaëlle Jean relaunched the Indian Residential Schools Truth and Reconciliation Commission in an emotional ceremony at Rideau Hall on Thursday.

“When the present does not recognize the wrongs of the past, the future takes its revenge,” Jean told an audience that included residential school survivors. “For that reason, we must never, never turn away from the opportunity of confronting history together – the opportunity to right a historical wrong.”

The mandate of the commission, which has been plagued by delays and controversy, is to probe the assimilation and abuse aboriginal children faced at residential schools across Canada in the 20th century.

How big a problem are we expected to believe that is – as though people are lining up to pretend they’re living off the land in rural Alberta. It’s not a way to ‘prevent identity theft’. That’s a ridiculous pretext, and it can only be sold to us because the mainstream media is utterly failing in its job to put these pieces together and give you the full context – these cards are being standardized internationally. The Supreme Court of Canada has dismissed a motion by a Hutterite community in Alberta to re-hear an appeal of its ruling requiring the group to abide by provincial driver’s licence photo requirements.

As usual, the top court gave no reasons for the decision Thursday. Appeals of Supreme Court rulings are rare as it is considered the final court of justice in the country.

On July 24, the Ottawa court had ruled 4-3 that the Hutterian Brethren of Wilson Colony, located east of Lethbridge, Alta., must abide by provincial rules that make a digital photo mandatory for all new driver’s licences as a way to prevent identity theft.

So – if we grant that global warming is happening, then displacement of precipitation and increased usage and diversion depletes snowpack and reservoirs… is that the model? Because clearly you don’t destroy the net amount of water in the water cycle – even if a river is redirected, precipitation should still fall at its source – so the assumption must be that it’s displaced permanently. Someone may want to check the WWF’s methodology, given the immense financial interest in the outcome of any future water crisis.

Increasing demands on Canada’s fresh water is putting rivers at risk, according to a new report.

Growing more food, generating more electricity, expanding cities and industry are all taking a toll on Canada’s rivers, according to the World Wildlife Fund Canada.

The report released Thursday, Canada’s Rivers at Risk: Environmental Flows and Canada’s Freshwater Future, examines the health of 10 major rivers from the perspective of water flow.

“As temperatures rise, and industrial water withdrawals and interest in hydropower increase, we must start planning now to protect river flows to ensure water security for the communities and economies that depend on them,” said Tony Maas, director of fresh water with WWF-Canada.
