Pregnant mother tasered at baptism party

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

You look at an ‘authority’ – we used to call them peace officers – the wrong way in the US these days and they charge you with assaulting an officer. And don’t even think about raising an arm to ward off their blows. That only makes them madder.

A child’s Virginia baptism ended up being a real shocker.

Responding to a noise complaint in Prince William County, police sought to quell the assembled crowd — who they said were making too much of a racket — by firing a Taser at the child’s grandfather and at the pregnant mother of the baptized child.

The officers said they placed a call to the homeowner, who they said was intoxicated and refused to reduce the volume.

The homeowner, 55, is a church family counselor and bible study teacher. His son, Edgar Rodriguez, claims he was Tasered three times after producing his ID for police. The elder Rodriguez was arrested for public intoxication in his own backyard.

No exceptions to immunization of 12 million, says health minister

Greece has become the latest country to announce it will enforce a mandatory swine flu vaccination program, despite fears about the jabs containing mercury and squalene.

Despite the fact that there have been no deaths whatsoever from swine flu in the Mediterranean country, the Greek government has resolved to immunize its entire population of 12 million, all but guaranteeing that several thousand at least will be injured or be killed by the vaccine which is set to be fast tracked in Europe with no human testing at all.

“We decided that the entire population, all citizens and residents, without any exception, will be vaccinated against the flu,” Health Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos said after a ministerial meeting.

Britain To Put CCTV Cameras Inside Private Homes

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

It’s confirmed that this is already happening. Of course, it’s ‘for the children‘, as is standard with the most pernicious police state intrusions on your life. You’re for the children, aren’t you? You’re for the children growing up in a micromanaged state from which all desire and independent thought has been effaced, so they’ll be ‘happy’ from cradle to grave beneath the watchful eyes, aren’t you?

As an ex-Brit, I’m well aware of the authorities’ love of surveillance and snooping, but even I, a pessimistic cynic, am amazed by the governments latest plan: to install Orwell’s telescreens in 20,000 homes.

£400 million ($668 million) will be spend on installing and monitoring CCTV cameras in the homes of private citizens. Why? To make sure the kids are doing their homework, going to bed early and eating their vegetables. The scheme has, astonishingly, already been running in 2,000 family homes. The government’s “children’s secretary” Ed Balls is behind the plan, which is aimed at problem, antisocial families. The idea is that, if a child has a more stable home life, he or she will be less likely to stray into crime and drugs.

The communications industry has condemned government plans to force them to monitor your calls, emails and internet usage

Government plans to outsource official spying, forcing communication service providers like BT to retain personal communications data – records of all phonecalls, emails, texts and internet connections – have been severely criticised by the industry expected to do ministers dirty work for them.

In a submission to the Home Office as part of a public consultation, internet firms have candidly labelled the plans as “an unwarranted intrusion into people’s privacy” and have suggested people were deceived about the extent of the government’s ambitions to monitor the country’s communications data. According to the Sunday Times, the London Internet Exchange which represents 330 firms including BT, Virgin, and Carphone Warehouse, says that the proposals are deceptive. “We view the description of the government’s proposals as ‘maintaining’ the capability as disingenuous: the volume of data the government now proposes [we] should collect and retain will be unprecedented, as is the overall intrusion into then privacy of the citizenry.”
